A razor-sharp quartet with outstanding communicators Since his time in Jaga Jazzist in the late ’90s and his debut solo album in 2008, Mathias Eick has been a central figure in Norwegian jazz, reaching far beyond the genre’s core audience. He now presents a tight quartet capable of both raw power and delicate nuance. The lineup leans more acoustic than before. Ole Morten Vågan and Hans Hulbækmo open the door to freer jazz, while Kristjan Randalu brings influences from contemporary and classical music. The result is a strong and compelling ensemble. Last year, Eick released the beautiful album Lullaby on ECM - music we look forward to experiencing live.
