The team behind last year’s audience success Peter Pan is back – this time with a brand-new production, The Wizard of Oz. This Teateret’s The Wizard of Oz, written by Petter Winther, is based on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. Dorothy lives on a dull, grey farm in Kansas, dreaming of a place far beyond the rainbow filled with color and joy. One day, a cyclone sweeps her house away, carrying her to a magical land bursting with flowers and vibrant colors – the wonderful Land of Oz. In Oz, she meets the Good Witch of the South, who tells her that the only way home is to follow the Yellow Brick Road all the way to the Wizard. Along the journey, Dorothy is joined by the brainless Scarecrow, the lonely Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion, who become her loyal companions. But they must also face the Wicked Witch of the West, who will do everything she can to stop them from reaching the Wizard. The Wizard of Oz is a story about friendship, unity, and the courage to be yourself. Throughout the performance, we meet characters who believe they lack a brain, a heart, or courage. But do they really? Or is it simply that they lack belief in themselves – and in the fact that they are already complete, just as they are? Good to know: * In Norwegian * Hall: Marmorsalen
