Sentimental Value follows actress Nora and her sister Agnes when their charismatic father, Gustav, suddenly reappears in their lives after a long absence. Once a famous film director, Gustav now wants Nora to play the lead role in his big comeback. Working with her father is the last thing Nora can imagine. She turns down the offer, and in steps American actress Rachel Kemp, who travels to Norway to take on the role Gustav originally wrote for Nora. Suddenly, the two sisters must not only deal with their father—they also have a Hollywood star roaming around their childhood home, right in the middle of the family’s personal drama.
