The Brief

Low-key intensity and uncompromising dynamics in a super trio Ab und Zu and Trio de Janeiro hold a central place in recent Norwegian music history, largely thanks to the voice of Anne-Marie Giørtz. The versatile vocalist has been active since the early 1980s. In 2008 she formed the Anne-Marie Giørtz Trio, focusing mainly on original material. The trio’s albums On Their Own Terms (2009), Capital Punishment for Cars (2016), and Echoes of Our Memories (2024) reveal a deeply personal and atmospheric expression - the latest released on her own label, In Your Dreams Records. Critic Tor Hammerø has described the interplay with Eivind Aarset and Anders Engen as restrained, richly detailed, and exceptionally sensitive. A warm evening with a fantastic trio.
