Opening of the FUGLEFJELLET Art Exhibition

In the art project FUGLEFJELLET (The Bird Cliffs), visual artist Vigdis Fjellheim explores the loss of nature through charcoal and soft pastel drawings, paintings and installations. Over the past fifty years, eight out of ten seabirds have disappeared from Norway’s bird cliffs. In 2026/2027, visual artist Vigdis Fjellheim will present the art project FUGLEFJELLET as part of the exhibitions “Nature in Crisis” and “Norwegian Animals” at Robert Collett’s House at the Natural History Museum. Through artworks ranging from charcoal and soft pastel drawings to Plexiglas paintings and installations, she explores the loss of nature and the relationship between presence and absence, inspired by the decline in seabird populations. Programme 18:30: Doors open. Entrance via the museum shop. 19:00: Opening speech by the Natural History Museum, followed by presentations from Brita Brenna, Professor of Cultural History and Museology at the University of Oslo, and Beate Petersen, visual artist, writer and filmmaker. Light refreshments will be served. Practical information: * The opening event is free of charge and includes access to the art exhibition, which is presented as part of the “Norwegian Animals” and “Nature in Crisis” exhibitions. * The rest of the museum will be closed. * Entrance is via the museum shop.
