Description
How can we imagine a repertoire beyond what we already know and appreciate within dance? This question is the starting point for the project Bazm (Repertoire).
The work's motivation is to fabricate a completely fictional repertoire, thereby turning the concept into a lens for an active, critical inquiry into the ways dance and choreography are recognized, authenticated and conceived.
Subtly and precisely, Armin Hokmi, together with an international group of artists, presents a choreographic work devoted to movements that, despite their impulsive character, are absorbed into the dancers' bodies like finely honed sculptures. Insistently and phrase by phrase, the dance takes on new forms, from the introspective to the outward-looking gaze. Movements that come from the heart and reside in the legs, with subtle shifts and jerky motions, either completely wild or mildly patient – the work makes visible what it takes to define a world together. A dance full of wonder.
The performance premiered at the prestigious Montpellier Danse festival in France in 2026, and is shown in Oslo at Dansens Hus for three evenings after being performed in Berlin.
