Description
Talents aged 7-15 improvise and play jazz standards.
Young musicians dive into tunes learned by ear! Through listening, immersion and good guidance from Odd André Elveland, these young musicians grow at breakneck speed toward becoming independent song constructors and interpreters — a fascinating process to be part of. Come and be impressed by the Children's Jazz Stage, a great place to experience the jazz heritage being carried forward!
Welcome to a monthly concert series that has delighted and impressed us over several seasons. It seems Victoria has a stage edge at just the right height for the young performers. The blossoming jazz talents perform gems from the standard jazz repertoire, and play with a conviction you have rarely seen matched. We promise good vibes, intense interplay and playful improvisation at a high level.
The musicians belong to Improbasen, Oslo's own children's jazz school, which teaches children aged 7-15 jazz improvisation. The students come both from the Oslo area and from the rest of the country, and have gained considerable stage experience through concerts, festivals and tours in both Norway and the rest of the world. Improbasen is supported by the Norwegian Cultural Council, Sparebankstiftelsen and the City of Oslo.
