The Brief

Bixiga 70 is one of Brazil’s most prominent instrumental bands, known for its distinctive blend of afrobeat, Brazilian rhythms, jazz, funk, and Latin influences. Formed in São Paulo in 2010, the collective has built a reputation for energetic, tightly executed live shows driven by powerful horns, dense percussion, and pulsating grooves. The band takes its name from the Bixiga neighborhood and the address of the studio where it began. Rooted in São Paulo’s diverse music scene, their sound also draws strong inspiration from West African music.
