Transcendental and beautiful from deep roots Oh, this is so beautiful that tears almost well up. Our own Arve Henriksen is in good company with German bassist Robert Lucaciu and French accordionist Ambre Villermoz, who along with composer and violinist Clément Janinet invest great emotion in his music. Here innovative modernity is united with music that seems strangely inherent and close. Clément Janinet is one of the most promising French violinists and composers who, although deeply rooted in jazz, only uses that kind of freedom in style and playing. His many releases are characterized by repetitive music as well as traditional European and African music in an exquisite blend. In this new European quartet, which released its debut album Garden of Silences in early May this year, the violinist builds on the aesthetic of uniting music and musicians from different cultures. Janinet finds new paths between free improvisation, baroque music, popular music and repetitive music. Inspired by the instrumentation on Dave Douglas' album Charms Of The Night Sky, the quartet transcends traditional repertoires. Here it is as Monteverdi, Buxtehude and Dowland wrote for the nyckelharpa: Intense improvisation mixed with microtonal music, and modern chamber music played for folk dance. We can promise you that one of autumn's finest hours awaits you! Clément Janinet - violin, nyckelharpa, Arve Henriksen - trumpet, Ambre Villermoz - accordion, Robert Lucaciu - bass Photo: Stan Augris
