The Brief

Five free souls will warm your heart. Two of this venue's heroes, Mats Gustafsson and Goran Kajfes, have created a new and wonderful ensemble dedicated to creative and spiritual improvised music that will take us by storm this evening! The two have met many times in large ensembles, most often with Fire!Orchestra as the focal point, but have for years felt the need for a smaller ensemble for music formed by compositional works and improvised free jazz. Everything fell into place when their great hero and master Christer Bothén joined and laid the foundation they could build on. It's no secret that Don Cherry has a big star in the Swedish jazz scene, and Christer Bothén was one of Cherry's most important collaborators during his Swedish period, with perhaps the world's most beautiful bass clarinet playing. This evening will feature original material by Kajfes, Gustafsson and Bothén, mixed with music by Don Cherry, Codona and Frank Lowe. Exciting instrumentation and rhythms with underlying double bass madness and live electronics will be contemporary music like you've never heard before.
