Bach’s great work got its name from the harpsichordist who is said to have played for the count who couldn’t sleep, and who asked Bach to write these variations so he would have something to listen to through the night. We have selected the canon movements from the Goldberg Variations and paired them with newly composed music by Swedish singer-songwriter Loney Dear. His dreamy, atmospheric style intertwines with the variations’ almost hypnotic effect. This concert is part of the Interpuls Festival, with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra as the evening’s artist-in-residence. The music will be accompanied by spectacular light and video installations by award-winning German light artist Philipp Geist. One ticket opens the door to the whole evening – a social concert format featuring a series of short sets, with Pekka Kuusisto and Loney Dear as soloists and co-creators. Come and go as you please, and enjoy food, drinks, and freshly popped popcorn along the way. The concert takes place at Kulturkirken Jakob, Hausmanns gate 14, 0182 Oslo.
