A generational band doing remarkable things with history. The album Volum (Jazzland, spring ’25) received strong critical acclaim and reached the Top 10 on the Europe Jazz Media Chart in March. The music spans from the mid-1960s onward, with clear influences from Thelonious Monk and freer jazz expressions. The repertoire combines Kristiansen’s original compositions with powerful interpretations of works by Ornette Coleman, Cecil Taylor, and Nils-Aslak Valkeapää. Bringing generations together, the band delivers energetic, creative interplay - rare live appearances, but always with compelling intensity.
