Borders separate us from them, the known from the unknown, me from you – and while doing so, by force or without us noticing, they shift, move and even dance. Borda is a performance about transcending the barriers that - visibly or invisibly - stretch out and surround us. All those walls of barbed wire, concrete and hedges, but also beliefs, viewpoints and differences.
Brazilian Lia Rodrigues, one of contemporary dance's most distinctive voices, returns to Dansens Hus with her newest performance Borda, a powerful exploration of what divides and what unites us.
In Portuguese, borda can mean both "border" and "embroidery", a play on words that mirrors the performance's core: Borders are not just walls or fences. They are also fluid, living and full of possibilities. Through raw, poetic choreography and the intense presence of nine dancers, Rodrigues transforms no-man's-land into meeting places, where opposites touch and something new can arise.
Borda is a colourful celebration of life, a challenge to our dividing lines, and a reminder that man-made borders can also be changed.
