Darkness Brighter Than Most Marc Ribot first came into the spotlight as the guitarist on Tom Waits’ Rain Dogs, and has since become a sought-after collaborator for artists such as Elvis Costello, David Sanborn, and John Zorn. He is known for a singular voice that moves between - and beyond - genres. Released in May, Map of a Blue City is Ribot’s latest solo album and perhaps his most personal: a dark, unconventional singer-songwriter record assembled from recordings spanning 30 years. The music is understated and idiosyncratic, yet filled with flashes of light. When Ribot plays at Victoria, it is always an event.
