On his latest release, uNomkhubulwane (2024), Makhathini blends ancient traditions with a forward-looking sound, resonating with listeners of John and Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, and Shabaka Hutchings. He is joined by a tightly knit trio featuring bassist Ndalisu Ndlazi and drummer Lukmil Perez, promising a powerful and immersive live experience.
