Description
Imaginative music that bridges tradition and experimentation.
Ceòl Mór
Martin Lee Thomson's new project for OJKOS - Ceòl Mór, draws inspiration from the rich traditions of Scottish, English and Scandinavian folk music and storytelling, reimagining them through his distinctive avant-garde approach to folk music. The project intertwines fragments of folklore, myth, and oral history with improvisation and modern compositional techniques, exploring how ancient tales and musical motifs can resonate within today's creative landscape.
The result is a bold and imaginative work that bridges past and present, tradition and experimentation, through the transformative power of sound.
OJKOS is the Orchestra for jazz composers in Oslo, a regional orchestra for professional jazz composers based in Eastern Norway. The project took shape in spring 2018 as a collaboration between Østnorsk jazzsenter, Victoria - Nasjonal jazzscene and a project group of five jazz performers and composers. OJKOS is an arena for composing new music where all members rotate the artistic responsibility.
