A free concert with Norwegian, young jazz at its best!
As always for Oslo Kulturnatt, we make sure to find a band that goes straight to the core of jazz with music that engages and surprises, and here comes a treat with a new album on the way! Coincidences are inspiring - especially if you keep the door open for them. Oslo Kulturnatt is an evening of such encounters, which is why we believe Coincidences is the perfect band to put on stage this evening!
Coincidences is Kristina Fransson's tribute to coincidences. Every encounter, meeting, and missed connection - that which makes life a little extra special. For a curious but indecisive soul, there is often a feeling that coincidences make choices that the conscious mind would never have had the opportunity to make.
It is by no means a coincidence that Kristina Fransson was awarded Oslo Jazz Festival's talent prize in 2022 with a commissioned work for the following year's festival - she was already then an inspired and energetic musician with a strong identity. But with this challenge, Fransson saw her chance to realize her dream of uniting electronics, texture, jazz and pop, and Coincidences was born. The concert at the Jazz Festival was a great success, and fortunately the coincidences live on and the debut album is coming soon!
We get to hear an exciting and fearless trio with many different cells of improvisation, electronics and pop that the musicians move seamlessly through. The band has enough range to stretch from small ASMR effects to big pop moments, from free jazz to intimate songs. Drop by the Jazzscene during Kulturnatta and experience Norwegian, young jazz at its best!
