Description
Genre-defying and versatile drummer and vocalist.
Øyunn anno 2026 is about beats and flow. There are analog synths, hooks that dig into your body and stay there, honest and slightly dirty indie-pop songs, and vocals that encompass high flights and street-level urbanity. Above all, it's about presence, rhythmic precision and an enormous will to constantly explore new forms of expression.
Siv Øyunn Kjenstad has done a lot. She started as a relatively pure jazz drummer, studied jazz in Trondheim and was involved with Batagraf, Friensemblet, Avant Folk and Bugge Wesseltoft's New Conception of Jazz, among others. Later she has collaborated with Nils Frahm and the Danish electronica ensemble Efterklang, written music for the National Theatre and the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, made film and created multimedia commissioned works for Oslo World and Ultima. And through all of this, her main project Øyunn has been a continuous artistic process - documented on the albums Aspects from 2023 and last year's I know U can do it.
