Description
Something inexplicably gripping and cool!
Drummer, percussionist and gong master Paal Nilssen-Love pushes his compositional abilities to the limit, with a sharp and innovative selection of musicians and artists.
The premiere of this specially written work took place at this year's Nattjazz in Bergen and was well received by both audiences and reviewers.
The West Norwegian Jazz Ensemble is in its basic idea quite similar to the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, with lineups assembled according to the tonal needs and personalities required for the music they are to perform. Nilssen-Love has settled on 8 fellow musicians from Western Norway, some of them well known, others he has never played with before - a completely new and exciting constellation with strong voices, musicians with backgrounds in classical, contemporary music, noise and jazz.
Paal wants people to leave the concert feeling that they have experienced something completely unexpected, something inexplicably captivating.
