Skikkelig Jazz Trio med Håkon Kornstad

The Brief

A Proper Jazz Trio is a great idea that turns out to be even better in reality – and something you really should experience. The band features Per Zanussi and Ståle Liavik Solberg, known as Oslo’s most abstract rhythm section, together with a rotating third member, currently the fantastic tenor saxophonist Håkon Kornstad. It’s a pleasure to hear Kornstad back in this setting. Smiles come easily as these three musicians, with great flexibility and intuition, perform their own interpretations of well-known jazz standards by Coleman, Davis and Ellington, along with plenty of other tunes you’ve probably heard before – or will quickly enjoy hearing now. The music swings hard with lots of energy, and it’s just as fun on both sides of the stage. Loose and tight at the same time, and reverence is not really the Skikkelig Jazz Trio way – here, the point is simply to play!
