Solveig Slettahjell Quartet

A dream team celebrating a new release of Solveig's enchanting musicality. The Solveig Slettahjell Quartet delivers an intense musical experience, where sound, intimacy, silence and presence are at the center. With Slettahjell's distinctive voice – warm, thoughtful and deeply expressive – the music has a unique ability to touch audiences across genre boundaries. In August, Jazzland releases Solveig Slettahjell's 17th album – the third with this quartet, and we get a new chance to experience her wonderful music live! Solveig's artistic core has always been in the interplay with strong, listening musicians. Each concert is an open meeting – a space where the songs are unpacked anew, shaped in the moment and given new life. Now this interplay turns toward Solveig's own songs. For the first time since Slow Motion's last album Tarpan Seasons, Solveig presents a release focused mainly on her own material. She writes in Norwegian, and has also selected Swedish, Danish and Norwegian poems – a natural continuation of the quartet's Nordic project. Thematically, the album moves between hope and will, opposites and balance, love and vulnerability. It explores how a changing and demanding time in the world is reflected in our close relationships. Can we draw strength from what is near? Can we practice at home – and from there make the world a little better? Come share an evening with us around songs about a lived life.
