Description
The piece explores, both visually and conceptually, a contemporary world in which the need to reconnect with what is essential to human beings is called into question. This unfolds within a context where information overload and superficiality, rather than enriching our lives, end up emptying them. The growing dehumanization leaves Mondo man behind.
What does it mean to be human? We live in a world where an overwhelming flow of information, growing dehumanization and superficiality empty our lives instead of filling them.
The award-winning choreographer Susana Pous takes the audience on a search for essence with the performance Mondo. The piece reflects on human values – what really matters, and what remains when the external and superficial are removed?
"Mondo" is not a word often used in Cuba. A search in the Spanish dictionary shows that the adjective mondo refers to something that is clean, unadorned and raw.
