Thomas Strønen's Extended Ground feat. Fredrik Høyer and Håvard Aufles comes to Cosmopolite Scene. The band has featured guests including Nils Petter Molvær, Christian Wallumrød and Anja Lauvdal. Extended Ground creates beats unlike anything you've heard before. Ten drummers stretch the concepts of groove and rhythm. "You feel like you want to dance, but don't quite know where to put your feet." The band plays composed music by Strønen, arranged spontaneously through signs and signals during live concerts. Despite the music being largely through-composed, it takes different directions in interaction with Fredrik and Håvard through the use of signs and a methodically rehearsed apparatus. This gives the ensemble an elasticity and human dimension that can only be performed by living beings. As both actor and playwright, Fredrik Høyer is best known for his monologue texts, including Grønlandsūtraen and Jordopphimlesang from the National Theatre. As a playwright and author, Høyer has written a number of plays, music albums, films and book publications. As an actor he is also known from film and TV, including 22. juli and Erik Poppe's Utvandrarna. Slam poet and actor Fredrik Høyer is one of contemporary theatre's most original voices. Håvard Aufles is one of the strong younger keyboardists in Norwegian jazz, working at the intersection of electronica, pop and jazz. Extended Ground and drummer Thomas Strønen are exactly the right, intuitive and rhythmic powerhouse needed to give the music strength and lift it towards the surface and the light – as they now take the stage at Cosmopolite. Extended Ground is a percussion ensemble with drummers affiliated with the Norwegian Academy of Music.
