Description
With a fantastic band behind him, vocalist Tomas Eidsvåg really gets to let loose.
We have an exciting encounter ahead as Eidsvåg celebrates his album debut with a Norwegian tour, and fortunately he also stops by the Jazz Scene.
With what is essentially the very tightly-knit John Pål Inderberg Trio, they tackle jazz standards together and give us new, fresh interpretations of this repertoire. In a warm and intimate soundscape with solid jazz knowledge at its foundation, new spaces for nuance and spontaneity are created.
Male jazz vocalists are a rare treat here in Norway and require a very particular form of expressive ability and courage. With a strong, personal nerve, Tomas Eidsvåg stands out with a laid-back style and a marked improvisational surplus. Here there is both cool jazz and songs of more recent date from Jim O'Rourke and Bonnie "Prince" Billy, and we are sure this music will resonate well with a modern audience. There will be soft ballads and dazzling solos, performed with playfulness, precision and lots of energy.
