Norway's most exciting vocal ensemble in a work about oscillations. The improvising vocal ensemble Trondheim Voices was founded in 2001, and over the two-plus decades since, they have stretched the boundaries and expanded what is possible for a group of singers to do. Music has been composed for the ensemble, choreography instructed, and new technology developed, all to ensure that Trondheim Voices always stays at the forefront of the field! Trondheim Voices and the work Fluctuations by Sissel Vera Pettersen will premiere at Molde Jazz Festival this summer, and we are fortunate to experience the work here this autumn! The work is based on the collective musical experience that Trondheim Voices has built up over many years. The language and shared understanding of collective improvisation that TV has developed will be the artistic core of the project, and the compositions will be strongly tied to each individual singer's musical identity and personal arsenal of live electronics, various percussion, instruments, and effects. Sissel Vera Pettersen explains: "Fluctuations deals with waves and oscillations; how we and the nature around us constantly shift between light and dark, high and low tide, strength and vulnerability, faith and doubt, the need for security and desire. The world's and life's ever-changing, undulating nature, and how we as humans handle it - both personally and collectively." This will be an intimate encounter in a club concert where the ensemble is experienced as a band.
