Description
Cool Nordic jazz meets the flame of flamenco. Trondheim-based Ceniza has found their own unique nerve at the intersection of modern Nordic jazz and Spanish flamenco. The music moves effortlessly between captivating rhythmic drive, lyrical openness and tonal exploration. Here flamenco is not merely a superficial style, but an integral part of the band's DNA – a source of rhythmic complexity and emotional intensity. With strong collective interplay and dynamics, the ensemble delivers a concentrated and clear concert experience. The repertoire consists mainly of original compositions with interwoven interpretations of traditional flamenco songs. Glowing energy! Get ready for an evening of uncompromising swing, virtuosity and sizzling energy! In this fairly new band, the Aron Ødegård Quartet draws inspiration straight from the source – the boiling bebop tradition of 1940s and 50s New York. Guitarist and bandleader Ødegård has recently returned home from a study stay in the jazz metropolis, bringing with him a burning passion to bring this historic heritage to the Norwegian audience. Joining him is a stellar lineup of young, innovative musicians from Norway and the UK. Together they dive into The Great American Songbook in search of hidden gems from the bebop and hardbop era. The quartet invites you to a concert that spans from tender, moving ballads to lightning-fast tempos where it's impossible to keep your feet still. Aron Ødegård - piano, Jacob Wilson - saxophone, Eskild Okkenhaug - bass, Steinar Heide Bø - drums.
