The Brief

A Bigger Splash is a remake of Jacques Deray's erotic-psychological drama The Swimming Pool from 1969, with largely identical plot. Marianne and Paul are vacationing in a summer house on the Italian island of Pantelleria. The place appears as a garden of eden with beautiful views and a swimming pool where the two spend their days naked. The only thing bothering them are some snakes in the garden, but the real devil in paradise is Harry, Marianne's record-producing ex-boyfriend, who suddenly shows up with his daughter Penelope in tow. A daughter no one has heard of before, but who is young and beautiful and willing to do anything to avoid getting bored on the island. In other words, a setup for catastrophe.
