Description
Anzee is a melodic rapper who has established herself as a distinctive voice in Oslo’s growing underground alternative hip-hop scene. Blending the raw and distorted with the beautiful and organic, she delivers self-written lyrics in a style that moves seamlessly between confidence and vulnerability.
On her album DOMMEDAG (“Doomsday”), Anzee explores the end of the world as a concept for both personal transformation and what it feels like to live in the world today. Experimenting with elements of punk and rage alongside alternative hip-hop, she describes the album’s sonic landscape as follows:
“I have gathered scrap metal and curious mechanical parts from different eras in an abandoned warehouse, kissed by Mother Earth, where I am building my camp in preparation for the end of the world. Cracked violins and an out-of-tune grand piano stand shyly in a corner, left uncared for. From my far too small digital box, distorted and twisted sounds pour out. We’re talking about all of it.”
Anzee invites audiences into this universe for the very first time with an album release concert at Hvelvet, Sentralen, on the eve of the album’s release on 20 November.
