Birkelunden Big Band teams up with jazz guitarist Frode Kjekstad, hailed by AllAboutJazz as “perhaps Europe’s finest Soul-Jazz guitarist”. He has performed at legendary venues like Ronnie Scott’s (London) and Smoke (New York), and released five albums featuring stars such as Dr. Lonnie Smith and Eric Alexander. Birkelunden Big Band is Oslo’s hippest big band – a 19-piece orchestra of talented young jazz musicians led by Magnus Murphy Joelson. This concert features Kjekstad’s own compositions reimagined in grand big band style, with rich horn arrangements and irresistible drive.
