David Arthur Skinner is considered one of Norway's absolute finest jazz pianists. His concerts are a magical journey through the world of music, come and listen! Skinner was born on the Isle of Wight in England and has lived in Norway since 2005. He is also a bandleader and composer, but is best known as a performer of all types of improvised music, from traditional jazz and stride piano, through swing, bebop and mainstream. Skinner is behind the jazz club "Cafe Society Oslo" and is the initiator and producer of the Oslo Swing Jazz Festival. Skinner also leads Norway's best known swing band for dancers, Jazzombies, which has played at all the major swing dance events in Norway for over 10 years. He is employed as a university lecturer at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Skinner has collaborated with a wide range of jazz musicians in Norway, including Majken Christiansen, Erik Eilertsen, Georg Reiss, Kristoffer Kompen, Lars Frank, Hermund Nygård among others. To date, he has released four solo piano recordings. You can expect a repertoire with arrangements of well-known and lesser-known songs from the first part of the 20th century, some folk songs in jazz attire, as well as some original compositions.
