Description
The second film in Robert Rodriguez's Mexico trilogy. Following Robert Rodriguez's successful feature film debut, El Mariachi from 1992, this continues the story of the mythical musician with a guitar case full of weapons. While El Mariachi had only a $7,000 budget, Desperado was considerably more lavish and significantly more intense. The lead actor has also been replaced, in favor of Antonio Banderas.
Bucho is a wealthy but bloodthirsty drug lord who controls a seedy Mexican border town. Bucho and his men make a mistake when they anger El Mariachi himself, a former musician. Bucho was responsible for the murder of El Mariachi's lover and placed a bullet in one of his hands, rendering him unable to play guitar. Filled with vengeance, the musician, now turned killing machine, arrives in town to put Bucho out of business.
