This year’s Golden Bear winner is part of Dag Johan Haugerud’s trilogy Sex Dreams Love — three standalone films about desire, identity, and the longing for freedom. Johanne falls head over heels for her French teacher. In an attempt to preserve the wonderful feeling, she writes down everything she experiences. When her mother and grandmother read what she has written, they first react with shock at the intimate descriptions, then become captivated by the text’s literary qualities.
