Description
A Musical Literary Performance
From a distance, Dunkel might look like an ordinary town. It has a city wall, except where it meets the sea. It has a river, a church, a school, and many other buildings. But when you look closely, Dunkel isn't ordinary after all. Strange birds circle the factory chimneys, there is something odd about the town doctor, and a sign on the city gate warns that circuses are strictly forbidden. Welcome to Dunkel.
The performance is based on Rebecca Wexelsen’s Dunkle Fortellinger (Dark Tales), a standalone collection of gothic horror stories for children. Original music composed by Marcus Paus is performed by cellist María Conde, accompanied by Wexelsen reading from the book. Director Torunn Tusj has shaped this into a cohesive theatrical experience in close collaboration with the performers.
