Egil Olsen // On the Floor at Jakob

Egil Olsen has toured and released records since the early 2000s. "Some of the finest and most subtle we have," writes VG, who also describes him as "one of the country's funniest live artists." After a brutal fall on the ice, and three years of pain and troubles and countless treatment sessions, he is more or less back on his feet. Last year he released the album 'direct sunlight and heat' - an intimate and personal, yet intricate and produced studio album. There have been a few concerts under medication, but no touring. Going forward he is releasing lots of videos and a series of EPs with simple, acoustic recordings. With his melancholic and quirky songs, and his subtle humor and unique connection with the audience, Egil Olsen has established himself as a distinctive and exceptional live artist. He has played concerts in Japan, China, USA and Germany, and performed on the smallest and largest stages and festivals here in Norway. Egil Olsen has also created music for film, TV and video games. In addition, he makes his own, often animated, music videos and record covers, and has had an autobiographical comic strip in Dagbladet about "life as a relatively unknown superstar." ABOUT THE "ON THE FLOOR" SERIES "På gølvet" (On the Floor) is a series of acoustic/semi-acoustic concerts at Kulturkirken Jakob where we move the stage, artists and instruments down onto the church floor and set up seating right up close. These concerts become unique and intimate experiences where you can meet some of the country's finest artists and musicians up close.
