Chuck Norris as the Lone Wolf. Earlier this year, the six time world karate champion passed away. He was the man Bruce Lee called in 1972 when he needed a worthy opponent in The Way of the Dragon: Chuck Norris. Fast forward to 1983, and Norris was no longer just known as an unbeatable full contact karate fighter, but also as one of Hollywood’s toughest men. That same year saw the release of Lone Wolf McQuade, often highlighted as one of the defining moments of his career, with Norris in the legendary role of the lone wolf J.J. McQuade. A decade later, this character would inspire the TV series Walker, Texas Ranger, where Norris spent 196 episodes delivering justice and showing his unmistakable presence. For the perfect villain, the filmmakers turned to David Carradine, who had made his mark in over 60 episodes of Kung Fu in the 1970s, before often stepping into antagonist roles, as he does here. Between Sheriff Norris and Carradine’s ruthless drug lord stands Bond girl Barbara Carrera, well worth fighting for. Also worth noting is the score by the legendary Francesco De Masi, known for his work across countless spaghetti westerns, giallo films and mafia movies.
