Marte Eberson with band – in memory of Radka Toneff

In autumn 2026, Marte Eberson comes to Herr Nilsen to perform self-composed songs, personal interpretations of Radka Toneff's music, and material from her upcoming album to be released in January 2026. In recent years, Eberson has established herself as an original and expressive composer and artist with the ability to combine the intimate and poetic with the powerful and experimental. On the occasion of an earlier invitation from Jazz på Munch, she created her own interpretations of Radka Toneff's iconic album Winterpoem. This material, along with music from Radka Toneff's other albums, will be given new life this evening. For Marte Eberson, Radka Toneff's music has been a lifelong companion. Her father, guitarist Jon Eberson, played alongside Toneff, and Radka's voice, expression, and musical openness have been part of Marte's upbringing and inspiration. "Radka Toneff has always been part of my life. She has shaped me deeply – both as a person and as a musician. I grew up with her voice, with the music she created together with my dad and the others, and it has been like a musical compass for me. There is something in her honesty, vulnerability, and courage in her expression that I have always sought to find in my own music. Getting to play some of the songs Radka is known for – both her own and interpretations of songs she made her own – feels incredibly big," says Marte Eberson. This will be an evening where nerve, intimacy, and raw energy all find their place – with Marte Eberson's strong signature at the centre.
