Navaranaaq- Roten har vokst i stillhet

Greenland and Iceland are geographical neighbours, located not far from Norway. Contact between these three countries has varied throughout history, particularly between Greenland and the other Nordic countries. There may be many reasons for this; for example, the Inuit language differs significantly from the other Nordic languages. The countries also have distinct traditions and cultural heritage. In today’s society, it is important to strengthen the cultural ties between these countries. In this project, we have therefore brought together Icelandic and Greenlandic literature and created a collaboration between Greenlandic, Icelandic and Norwegian composers, conductors and performers. The producers Stefan Sand (Iceland/Denmark), Nuka Alice (Greenland) and Rebekka Ingibjartsdóttir (Norway/Iceland) bring together two traditional legends: the Nordic saga of Olavik, interpreted by Einar Benediksson, and the Inuit legend of the young girl Navaranaaq.
