The Brief

Crooner Erlend Bornhoffer is best known as the leader of The Jazzistocrats, Norway’s only jazz-symphonic 1920s orchestra. His new project, The Sinful Syncopators, is a chamber jazz version of this ensemble – featuring the same intricate arrangements and fiery solos, now in a more intimate format. The sound draws inspiration from the polished recordings of late 1920s New York, echoing studio groups like Red Nichols & His Five Pennies. Together with a handpicked group of highly skilled musicians, Bornhoffer brings this demanding, somewhat forgotten, yet fascinating style back to life.
