Enduring and brilliantly performed comedy with Marilyn Monroe. Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon), two unemployed musicians who accidentally witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre in 1920s Chicago, where they see gangster boss Spats Colombo eliminate Toothpick Charlie. A dangerous thing to witness, and Joe and Jerry realize they must go into hiding. They do this by dressing in drag and joining an all-female band. But their problems are far from over: Among other things, the band's vocalist, Sugar Cane, is dangerously sexy. Sugar is played by Marilyn Monroe, who delivers one of her absolute best performances. With perfect comic timing and a vulnerable, almost heartbreaking authenticity, Monroe creates a character who is both whimsical and deep. Possibly the world's best film comedy.
