Intoxicating and moving improvisations on failed love affairs. Antoine Doinel, the antihero and alter ego of François Truffaut, has grown up - but remains a dreamer and romantic. We follow him in his often hopeless search for love, as he drifts restlessly between impulsive passion and platonic relationships, between realism and fantasy. The film was created with a loose script - just a handful of notes forming a basic framework from which the actors improvised. The result is an energetic, episodic film, woven together in a tone that is at once humorous, serious, and poetic. When Stolen Kisses premiered in Norway in January 1969, it sparked a debate about film criticism. Unlike the generally positive reception in international press - and from critic Pål Bang-Hansen in Arbeiderbladet - the film was met with harsh reviews in the Norwegian daily press. This led to a vocal protest among film enthusiasts, published in Dagbladet under the headline “A Miscarriage of Film Criticism.” Good to know: * Language: French and English * Subtitles: English
