A successful musical based on Oskar Braaten. Ungen is a moving and successful Oslo musical, based on Oskar Braaten’s novel of the same name, with additional scenes and characters drawn from his other stories. At the heart of the story is the mill worker Milja (Britt Langlie), who has a child with the unreliable charmer Julius. Hønse-Lovisa, played by Sølvi Wang, looks after Milja’s baby as well as the other factory workers’ children during working hours. Despite the support of the wise and caring Lovisa, Milja fears she may not have enough to offer her child as a single mother. She is tempted by the idea of giving the baby up to a wealthy couple on Oslo’s west side. The musical is filmed in well-known locations around the old factory areas, including what is still known as Hønse-Lovisa’s House in Sagene, Normannsgata in Kampen, and other recognizable parts of Rodeløkka and Grünerløkka. Carsten Byhring and Harald Heide-Steen Jr. appear on street corners, functioning as a kind of commenting Greek chorus. Composer Egil Monn-Iversen drew inspiration from traditional Norwegian folk ballads, both for the main theme and the other musical numbers. Good to know: * Language: Norwegian * Subtitles: None
