About this experience

Verdensfolk proudly presents: π–πŽπ‘π‹πƒ-π‚π‹π€π’π’πˆπ‚ - encounters between traditional and classical music from different cultures around the world. Welcome to a workshop and concert of North Indian classical music with performers Patrick Vedlog and Suvrat Apte. Patrick Vedlog, a musician based in Oslo, plays the North Indian flute Bansuri. Together with tabla player Suvrat Apte, he will host a workshop and concert at Verdensfolk on November 22. The workshop will introduce participants to the instruments and musical traditions of North India. While Western classical music is rooted in harmony, Indian classical music focuses on melody and rhythm. This creates a unique dynamic between the performers, where improvisation plays a central role. The workshop is open to both musicians interested in learning more about Indian music and listeners who wish to gain deeper insight into the tradition. You are welcome to bring your own instrument! After the workshop, Patrick and Suvrat will give a concert, demonstrating a traditional performance of Indian classical music. Good to know: * Venue: Gym Hall at Sentralen * Music Workshop: 14:00 * Concert: 16:00 * You can choose to attend either part - or both.
