“The best of contemporary folk” – Irish Music Magazine Scandinavia's foremost folk rock band, West of Eden, comes to Herr Nilsen on Monday 27 July 2026 - ready to fill the Oslo evening with Celtic warmth, joy of playing and musical magic. The band is current with their fifteenth album, Lighthousekeeping, where they dive into the Irish and British song treasury and give it new life with their very distinctive signature. The result is both timeless and refreshing - tradition with punch, finesse and feeling. With their personal interpretation of the Celtic folk music tradition, West of Eden has toured all over Europe - and all the way to China. They have collaborated with some of the genre's biggest names, such as Kate Rusby, Gerry O'Connor from The Dubliners and John McCusker (known from collaborations with Mark Knopfler). In their home country Sweden, their traditional “Celtic Christmas” tour has become an institution, with sold-out houses across the country year after year. Now it's summer - and finally Norway's turn again! The audience can expect an evening that is intimate, sweaty, atmospheric and explosive all at the same time. From tender ballads to energetic jigs and reels – West of Eden delivers the full spectrum with warmth, humor and virtuosity. Monday 27 July at 20:00 you are invited on a musical journey westward - straight into the heart of the Celtic tradition. Welcome to a summer evening filled with rhythm, stories and genuine joy of playing at Herr Nilsen.
